New Water Mains Coming to Port Jeff

March 15, 2024

The Suffolk County Water Authority (SCWA) has advised the Village that starting on March 18, 2024, approximately 3400 feet of new water mains will be installed, as part of an infrastructure improvement project. The Village is sharing this information so that residents who are affected by the work are fully aware of the impact to their neighborhoods.

Bancker Construction, which will be handling the installation, expects the project to last for approximately 27 days, weather permitting. It will begin at High Street and Williams Street, moving west to Avenue A, and then move on to Robbins Street, through 25A, to Liberty Avenue.

Each night, Bancker laborers will go door-to-door with notices to alert residents who may be impacted by the work the following day. The next morning, those same residents will be reminded to move their vehicles to a location that will allow them access to their cars. Occasionally, a full roadway closure will be necessary. There will be signage in place to protect the safety of the crew and traffic control measures to keep traffic moving in an organized fashion.

Bancker will work 8:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m., on the non-State roads and 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m., on 25A, to comply with NYS roadwork stipulations.
