Belle Terre Resident Parking Permit Pilot Program
At the Board of Trustees meeting on Monday, following conversations with residents of Belle Terre, the Port Jeff parking administrator and representatives of BID and the Chamber of Commerce; the Board approved (4-1 vote) a pilot program offering Belle Terre residents the ability to purchase a parking permit for use throughout the remainder of the parking season in the Inc. Village of Port Jefferson.
How did this come about you ask?
We have been hearing from Belle Terre residents that they love the Village of Port Jefferson, but do not love the parking meters, and they actually serve as a deterrent to their residents from coming into the Village.
For this reason, the Village of Port Jefferson is offering a “virtual” parking permit pilot program for the residents of Belle Terre for the remainder of 2023.
That means, for a one time fee of $25 (plus a $3 e-commerce convenience fee), Belle Terre residents would have access to all metered spots and would not be required
to put money in the meter until metered parking requirements expire on Dec. 4. The one time fee will cover their parking for the entire parking season. (The “virtual” permit is ostensibly the resident’s license plate.)
Applying for the permit is a quick online process. A resident enters their name and address, car and license plate information and a credit card. Details are then verified by the Managed Parking Administrator, which, once approved, will provide Belle Terre residents access to any metered space without having to put money into a meter.
