Green Fest 2012

Mayor Garant reporting from East Beach in Port Jefferson, reminding you of the 4th Annual Green Fest event on June 16th at 1 to 6 pm. In addition, Port Jeff has coordinated with the Town of Brookhaven for an E-Waste pickup day at Dept of Public works on North Country Rd. Residents are encouraged to gather used electronics and drop at the DPW from 8 am to 1pm.

Beach Update

Mayor Garant on the beaches of beautiful Port Jefferson, NY - reporting beach restoration projects at East and West beaches, pending final DEC approval for the previously submitted BID package. The project includes a new sea wall, due to some very damaging storms in 2009 and 2010. FEMA and SEMO have approved funding of 87.5% of the $1.3m project. Residents are responsible for only the remaining portion. A line item will appear on the resident tax bill labeled 'beach restoration.' There will be additional coordination with the Town of Brookhaven, Suffolk County and the ARMY Corps of Engineers on the restoration of the jetty at Mt Sinai harbor.
