The 2 dates maps are associated with sampling the groundwater due to the Lawrence Aviation Industries Superfund Site. The comprehensive sampling conducted in 2008, prior to the installation of the pump and treatment systems, show a larger area of contamination, particularly Trichloroethylene (TCE). The comprehensive sampling conducted in 2015 indicates a general trend that the plume is narrowing. Additionally, results indicate a general decreasing trend of chemicals, including TCE, across the study area. This indicates the 2 systems are working as planned.
Vapor Intrusion, or indoor air sampling continues to be conducted on an annual basis in the winter time. Mitigation systems, installed as a precautionary effort, were upgraded or replaced in 2015. Sample results indicate concentrations of compounds are below levels for concern and do not require any additional actions on the property owner or EPA.
